AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL


Amnesty International is an international non-governmental organization. Organization founded in UK in 1961 by Peter Benenson.

The aim of Amnesty International is to work towards a world where every person on the planet is fully protected by the rights given in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Organization works to end the death penalty, torture, extra-judicial executions, the imprisonment of prisoners of conscience and political prisoners. Amnesty International attempts to ensure fair trials and lawful punishment of people who commit human rights.

Amnesty International takes part in many different activities. Firstly, organization works to bring an end to fear of violence for woman. Secondly, Amnesty International works on urgent action. Thirdly, Amnesty International works in Mediterranean countries. Fourthly, sells books and uses money in oder to fight human right abuses. At the moment there are running two global campaigns: stop Violence Against Woman campaign and Control Arms campaign. Amnesty International organizes demonstrations all over the world, writes letters to the goverments and informs society about human right abuses. Amnesty International encourage people to join the organization and do not be apathetic.
In 1977 Amnesty International was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for peace. The following year received the United Nations Human Rights Award.
Amnesty International works in many different countries. There are some reports about situation Lithuania. In 2007 report the basic point is trafficking of women and girls. In report Amnesty International describes the situation in Lithuania and compares it with other countries.
Amnesty International is a useful organization and helps people without charge.
